It was an overcast and chilly morning, but perfect for a trip to Sumburgh Head lighthouse for first puffins of the trip!! Our car was waiting for us at ferry terminal, it may have been the same car I had in 2022! Driving in Shetland is a pleasure – the roads are very good, not too narrow (even the single track ones), and there’s not a huge amount of traffic even in Da Toon.

Not pictured: a delicious breakfast at Fjarå Café Bar, which I hoped to visit last time but didn’t get to. It’s a very popular spot, with great views. We didn’t get a window seat, but still had a great meal. And coffee!
On to Sumburgh Head!

What follows is A LOT OF PUFFINS!! The last time I was here, a bit later in May, the puffin population at Sumburgh Head was quite low. Not this time! I just couldn’t stop snapping pix. I can’t get enough of these little characters.

Our B&B was near downtown, and also up the street from some lovely gardens.

I wanted everything in these windows! Everything!
