We got to Porthmadog a little early to enjoy the town before boarding the historic train to Blaenau Ffestiniog, a slate town waaay up in the mountains of Snowdonia.

The train stops in the village for about 30 minutes, so David did some exploring while a rested my knee.
Somewhere in this time, I realized I had left my Orkney and Shetland guide book and notes on a bench at the park where I waited for David to get snacks. We were in a real rush to get our train back to Llwyngwril, so we stopped by the park on the way in hopes that my stuff would still be there. I was not hopeful. But then! Hooray! There they were, the book and notebook, and even my pen! Right where I left them.

I had the book out on the table on the train, and two women sitting across from us had actually SEEN it on the bench in the park!! Serendipity! We laughed and chatted, and I understood about 60% of what they were saying (very heavy Welsh accents).
