The first SURPRISE collection that David planned for us was the Sir John Soane house, which was overwhelming. I offer you this description of him and his work, and the museum.

I took up a conversation with the docent in this room, about Soane and his wife and family, their domestic life, etc. He informed me that there was a small private tour of their rooms happening later in the day. I signed us up!

Just across a sweet little park from the Soane’s house was the Hunterian Museum, an exhaustive journey through the history of medicine. Here’s more about John Hunter, the surgeon who amassed this collection.

We headed back to Soane’s House for a private tour of the living quarters. I wanted to get a better sense of his wife and family life.

Fortunately, we had some time before the museum closed to see some stuff we missed before. It would take days to properly explore this place, but I was grateful we had the one.
