This was my second trip to Sheringham. Christine is my dear, dear friend from my college days. We were briefly lovers and forever friends! After we graduated, I went to NYC and she went to Crete to teach at the American school there. We stayed in touch, and she came to visit me in NYC once. After that, our thread got lost, until about 15 years ago when we reconnected. Christine came to California as part of a trip to care for a sick friend in Northern CA, and we spent a few delightful days in Santa Cruz. I am so thrilled to have reconnected in a solid way! I’ll be spending a week with her in 2026.

We went on a walk to breakfast at the Whelk Coppers Tea Room, where we ate way too much. We had missed the Sheringham museum on our last visit in 2022, so decided to spend some time there. It’s a lovely little museum!

Christine’s house was inherited from her mother, and is a treasure trove, a giant cabinet of curiosities, and a warm and loving home (because she is warm and loving).
We ordered out Indian food and had a complete and utter bacchanal! With lots of wine and Belgian ale (thanks to Christine’s partner, Josiane, who brings it from Brussels)! I had gotten some sweets, but they remained uneaten.
