I let David navigate the winding hole to turn us around to head back to Falkirk. We had a late afternoon arrival time for our spot on the Wheel (we did not realize this going in, that our 3 days was actually more like 2). So we knew we had to up our mph a little.
First Mate at the tiller! Another beautiful day.
David wanted to practice tying up using the stakes. So we did. We were making really good time on our return to Falkirk, so could stop for a bit.ohai duckies!Another excellent day!
This is a great video of going under the Laughin’ and Greetin’ Bridge!Approaching the long tunnel!Very gothic! At least there were some lights….
Steady on!Trusty first mate got us through the tunnel!
Whew, glad we are still on target! Hard to make a wrong turn, in truth.Waiting at the lock. The most nerve wracking thing about being a navvie on the canal. Also, those clouds are stacking up, and we’d like to be in place before the heavens open.OK lock, we’re coming at ya!David helped!!
Sounds of the Wheel.
This is the last lock, after the Wheel and before getting to our home for the night at the Black Prince docks.
More Ducks! We parked near the Black Prince rental area, and walked along the canal the see where we would be turning the boat around the next day for its return. This was some cute art at a house along the path.
Right around the time we went to bed, the rains started and continued into the next morning. It was lovely to sleep in the boat while the rain came down outside, snug and warm.
