Adventure fail with no regrets: We LOVED Linlithgow, and opted to stay docked for the day and night to explore the village. We would spin and make our way back to Falkirk to arrive at the wheel mid-afternoon the next day.

Linlithgow Palace, birthplace of Mary, Queen of Scots. A wonderful ruin. You will see all aspects of the amazing fountain below. Embiggen for amazing details.

Did any royal EVER have the complicated life and death of Mary, Queen of Scots? I think not. If you’d like a long read full of drama and tragedy and political intrigue, here ya go.

We had a day! Linlithgow is a lovely village. I decided my knee had had enough of stairs, so I got back to the boat early and enjoyed a rest, made dinner, and we relaxed in anticipation of navigating back to Falkirk the next day. Night number two on board!
