You know what’s not fun? Having to take care of time-sensitive legal stuff while traveling in a distant land! Fortunately, I was saved having to find a notary public at the US Embassy in London, and only had to sign some docs, copy my DL, and send this off to the US. (My family owns mineral rights on some land in Western Oklahoma that my great-grandfather purchased in the early 1900s. There is continuing gas and oil exploration going on, so we get offers on leases from time to time.)
David took the bus to Kirkwall to do laundry. I stayed home and did this. Since it was our last day in Stenness, I also packed and cleaned up the apartment, gassed up the car, and still had time to rest and get some reading done.
