What an amazing location I wrangled for us to stay! We *were* walking distance from the stones, but there was no safe verge to walk on on a busy road. So far, the weather is holding, a little chilly, but not as windy or rainy as Shetland was. The landscape of Orkney is much more subdued, less hilly, and a lot more agriculture. Our host at Lunna Pod in Vidlin had a lot to say about how Orkadian agricultural practices were more advanced than Shetland’s. We found the mainland to be beautiful, green, and friendly.
