April 19 – The Wallace Collection

I made a day of it at the Wallace Collection on the suggestion of my friend Louise. The collection is housed in a gorgeous mansion, and I totally enjoyed wandering the galleries. And all the dead hares.

One of the galleries. An amazing space. I counted about 20 dead hares in this room alone.
There are some shenanigans going on here!
Whuuuuuuu!
They guy pissing in the corner is the main event in this painting.
The crucified Jesus to the side seems inappropriate curation in the Pagan Orgy room.
I need no other reason.
This may have been my favorite painting. It is aglow with color.
Man harassing woman.
I guess this is biblical, but KITTY!!!!
The princes in the Bloody Tower. And their dog.
Someting something capitalism something.
More cats here than at the National Gallery!
Oh yeah!
A beautiful African Prince.
And another one. Yowza.
I decided for a pub lunch, and these lads were having quite the palaver. Loudly.

Christine had purchased us tickets to a play for the evening (when she thought she’d be joining me in London); I couldn’t face West End crowds again, so I skipped it, and started my list-making and packing for departure on 21 April. One more day to figure out some cool Paris stuff to do. (Afterword: I had a really great list, and then I mostly forgot to consult it. More about that later.)
