After a day of classical art, and a bit of a schlep to see David Hockney, I decided I was primed for some modern art. The collection at Musée d’Art Moderne was just the place I wanted to be, and I didn’t even know it until I got there. Absolutely essential that I visit the Cemetery at Pere Lachaise. I had a lovely weather day for exploring, thank you April in Paris.
So proud of myself for again doing TWO THINGS IN ONE DAY!

From Art to Death, next stop was Pere Lachaise. Mandatory pilgrimage to literary and music heroes and heroines. What I wasn’t expecting were the numerous moving and beautiful and also horrific memorials to the Nazi death camps, and other holocaust and WWII remembrances. Also, just a LOT of gorgeous monuments and crypts.
Just dropped in and had an amazing lunch; forgot the name, maybe L’Aribus? If I hadn’t been alone in Paris, I might have done a lot more of that.Unknown inhabitant, beautiful monument.Likewise.Obligatory Oscar Wilde.A secret door!Just loved the sculpture.Cemetery black cat!Just loved the doggo!Just loved the tile work.Gertrude! What I wasn’t expecting was the amazing and moving Holocaust memorials.Edith PilafModiglianiNo crowds at Jim Morrison, I was happy to see.Chopin.ChopinDon’t know this guy, but what an amazing monument.Heloise and AbelardOne of the Wallace fountains!Dinner at home, again!
I had a ticket to the second level of the Eiffel Tower (nothing available for the top, alas). But after the peacefulness of Pere Lachaise, I just couldn’t face the crowds. Having a grand view of the Tower from my flat certainly helped make that decision!
