The point of this day was to tour the Tower of London before going to see Richard II at The Bridge theatre, starring Jonathan Bailey (newly famous from “Wicked,” but famous to me from “Bridgerton”). I even signed up for a tour! Which I rarely do. All the tower guards and tour guides (Yeoman Warders) are former military who still like to dress up. There were A LOT of people there that day, so I skipped the torture rooms and a the Crown Jewels in favor of just wandering around. Just being amongst the olde stones was pretty darn special.

The play, which a speed-read right before going, was very, very good. It played up what little humor there is in a pretty depressing play. I recognized another of the players, Royce Pierreson, from a couple of fantasy shows I very much enjoyed, “Witcher” and “The Irregulars.” A very distinctive face. From this distance, I don’t recall a lot except a VERY long death scene, fully realized by Mr. Bailey. SO glad I did this for myself!

I mostly was not out at night in London, so this was a real treat!
