Up bright and early to start packing and tidying for tomorrow’s departure to Knighton. Today was for exploring the Castle, and the church after which my Inn is named. I began with a lovely breakfast (brecwast, in Welsh) at Kin Kitchen. My third trip to Wales and I had never had bannock. It’s a dense, fruity bread and delicious. Rest of breakfast was halloumi, salad, and mushrooms with gravy.

I really enjoyed exploring the castle! The views from the battlements was superb. Ludlow is a perfect little village. Also, I’ve never seen so many dogs in a town. Almost one per pedestrian.

I had spent a couple of days practically *in* this church. I finally decided to spend a little time there, and it was wonderful. The Misericordia were amazing (the wooden carvings in the choir). There was an old carillon, and while I was there, the bell-ringers had their practice. I loved everything about Ludlow, and this just put the icing on it.

There were not a huge number of options for dinner (I as not impressed with the pub at my Inn, the food was just too rich). The local Thai restaurant had good reviews, so I walked over there and had an early, really wonderful dinner.

Packing, watching a little teevee on my phone, and hoping that all my trains would be running took up my last evening in Ludlow.
There are hundreds of cute little villages just like this in England. Having now visited one of the quintessential ones, I can rest easy.
